A Kaleidoscope of MemoriesThanks to
Aubrey Watson '65 for submitting the following.
He writes, "I have a kaleidoscope of memories, including:
Thumper and an unnamed person carrying a large Styrofoam cooler into a football game, fooling the crack security people with a small hat on top of the cooler - too many other Thumper stories to chronicle.
Squints crashing the Cuda car twice in one month - both times into a taxi - what are the odds on that?
Watching Mallie Price run all over the field in touch football without ever being touched - he should have been on the Tech team.
The mysterious milk truck rolling down our hill and crashing into the practice field wall - perps unknown. They were a lot quieter delivering milk after that. For the record, this reporter had nothing to do with this, so this is hearsay and not admissible.
I'd better stop here before I start incriminating myself. We actually did a lot of good things, but that's not as memorable."

He recalls his best Kappa Sig memories, updates us on his life today, and shares why he gives back to the Alpha Tau Chapter. What is your best memory from your fraternity days? Hell Week and Hell Night were very challenging, and when they were over I really felt great to be a part of something that would last a lifetime.
Why did you join Kappa Sig during your college years? What is the biggest thing you feel you learned from your fraternity experience? I'm a legacy. My father took me by the house during my college visit. The brothers were nice to me, in particular Andy Phelps ’76. It seemed essential to join a Fraternity to get a full college experience.
I learned to grow up much quicker being in a fraternity. The fraternity also provided the building blocks for my development as a leader in life. My life has been full with many leadership roles in charitable organizations.
How would your life be different if you had never joined Kappa Sig? I would probably be living in Kentucky with a boring job and boring life.
Continued... A Dance With Doris DayIt must have been around Christmas, 1945. Les Brown and his band of renown, with Doris Day as the singer, were performing for a dance at Tech. One of the Kappa Sigs knew that Les Brown was also a Kappa Sig and invited Les and his band to the fraternity house after the dance. The band and Doris arrived, and from somewhere underground some liquor was produced. As background, recorded music was played. I believe every one of us danced with Doris that night. I would guess she was about 19 at that time, and as always, very pretty.
